The SAT is a pencil-paper test, it is a 3-hour long test without an essay and 3 hours and 50 minutes long with essay.
Reading, writing and language, math, and essay (optional).
The SAT score range is 400-1600 for the total score, and 200-800 for each of the two section scores. Each section of the SATs evidence-based reading and writing and math are scored on a 200 - 800 points scale. Scores are good for five years.
Commonly required score
To get into one of the top 100 most selective schools, candidates need to have a composite SAT score of at least 1200, preferably 1400 or more.
